All Things Work Together
by D. Sue Jones-Horton
I don't let the troubles of life get me down,
For I know that my Lord will soon turn things around.
I've learned to be patient and to hold to His hand.
I know though it all, my God has a plan.
I've learned not to lean to my own thoughts and ways,
For He is the author of all of my days.
In Him is my faith, my deliverance, my rest.
For He knows that through trials, my life shall be blessed.
Why fret over things not within my control,
when God offers peace to my mind and my soul?
He is my salvation, on Him I depend.
All things work together for me in the end.
"All things work together for good to them
that love the Lord."
Romans 8:28
A Call to Arms
by Mark de Vera Iniguez
"Soli Deo Gloria"
In the pit of hopelessness I lay
Unable to move in any way.
"Rise up!"I say, "Rise up!"
Where is the hope for such as I?
Broken and blind, here I lie.
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
My ears hear my claim, "I'm strong!"
But to my soul, this sounds so wrong.
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
Where can I go? Where can I turn?
Wretched, poor, insignificant worm.
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
"On your feet! On your feet!"
And how I tried to stand.
"Rise up!" I said, "Rise up!"
But I fell to my knees;
Helpless and weak, a mockery in this land.
"Rise up!" I said, "Rise up!"
"But what is this?" I ask
As my eyes skyward turn
Looking up to heaven
My heart within me churns
"Is there anyone there?"
I wonder if he'd even answer me.
"Please! I need your help!"
And now questions, needs, a prayer to see.
"Does anyone care?"
"Is there anyone listening?"
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
"Is it true that you live or just a lie?"
"Then why this pain? Answer me! Why?"
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
"I have heard of your fame!"
"Come now! I'll proclaim your name."
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
"Just come now, before I die!"
"Prove to me you're not a lie!"
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
Tears...
Sadness...
Confusion...
Questioning...
Searching...
Seeking...
Hoping...
Waiting...
Listening...
Hoping...
Waiting...

Something's different! Something's changed!
Something must have! It's not the same!
I don't feel the same! What can it be?
There's nothing physical that I can see.
I still sin. I still lie.
Imperfect man; that still is I.
But there's something different. Something's changed.
Something must have! It's not the same!
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
Then I stand. Then I see.
There's more to life. There's more in me.
What is this? I see it now!
In my heart; a glow; Oh WOW!
True love resides inside the hole.
Which once felt empty; now made whole.
The Son of God, he came to save,
This sinner here, this rebellious knave.
True love, true love, you broke my heart.
Thank you Lord. New life I start.
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
Where once was death true love now reigns.
And my life now is not the same.
Where can I go? Where can I turn?
Wretched, poor, insignificant worm.
Where can I go? Where can I turn?
Wretched, poor, insignificant worm.
Turn to God, my soul! Turn to God!
Turn to the beautiful, healing spring.
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
Turn to love, to peace, to forgiveness;
To life worth living, that wonderful thing!
"Rise up!" I say, "Rise up!"
Now you have value. Now you have worth;
Purpose and reason to live on this earth.
"Rise up my soul! Rise up!"
My God, my God, my Lord and King,
To You oh Christ, my soul, it sings!
"Rise up my God! Rise up!"
Show your power! Show your fame!
May the world exalt your name!
"Rise up! Rise up! Rise up!"
'Cause You saved our souls,
We'll proclaim Your name!
'Cause You loved us first,
You destroyed our shame.
RISE UP! HE DIED! RISE UP!
Fly Like Eagles
by Maxine Verney
This author is disabled, yet she learned how to
depend on God and overcome the bad times
and rejoice in the good times.
You've given me the strength to carry on.
You've given me the words to sing my very own song.
You've shown me to the light to guide my way.
To lead me to the darkness and the gray.
I felt that I had lost the core of me.
The intellect was shrouded and the mind couldn't see.
I was so overwhelmed when in a crowd.
I couldn't find the words to sing aloud.
I faced the doubt of those who would not see.
And try to understand why they won't really hear me.
At times I questioned if the fault was mine.
And some great flaw had clouded my mind.
I know that there is strength inside of me.
I know the soul and body struggle to be free,
To break away the shackles and the chains,
To overcome the heartache and the pain.
And all along in my heart and my mind,
I knew that I would search and seek and find,
The answers needed to the questions there,
And comfort that your help has brought to bear.
For you believed in me and held my hand,
When I was like a young child in a strange land.
You gave me back the words to sing my song,
And help the other weary sing along.
At times of greatest need, or loss, or shame,
The Lord in all His wisdom calls each one by name.
We ask "Where were his footsteps in the sand?"
He says, "I held you safely in my hands."
For they that wait in faith upon the Lord,
Surely shall renew their strength with one accord;
Mount up with golden wings, like eagles, fly,
To rise past limitations, not to cry.
He Makes No Mistake
by A.M. Overton
My Father's way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache,
But in my soul I'm glad I know,
He makes no mistake.
My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes may fade away,
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead
For He does know the way.
Though night be dark and it may seem
That day will never break;
I'll pin my faith, my all in Him,
He makes no mistake.
There is so much now I cannot see
My eyesight is far too dim;
But come what may, I'll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.
For by and by the mist will lift
and plain it all He will make
Through all the way, though dark to me,
He made not one mistake.
Just Have Faith
by William E. Heath III
Sometimes life can throw you flat on your face,
But you have to get right back up and start a new a new day.
You feel discouraged, and there's nothing but sorrow,
But remember - things will always change tomorrow.
Just have faith, and always trust in Him.
All those hard times, Heaven's where He's been.
He'll help you along the way, give you comfort and love,
Get you back on your feet, and watch from above.
You don't have anything in this world, nothing to call your own.
No one says "hi", and no one to call on the phone.
Barely enough to survive, but what's the point to go on
If you don't have anyone to share it with - you're all alone.
But then, you hear a voice from above,
Not rough and discouraging, but full of love.
It says, "Come with me, let me be your guide,
I'll help you through this dark, lonely life."
Just have faith, and always trust in Him.
All those hard times, Heaven's where He's been.
He'll help you along the way, give you comfort and love,
Get you back on your feet, and watch from above.
As you take the hand of God, you see your troubles melt away.
You praise Him, and realize that this is your day.
You had nothing, and wanted it to end.
Now, you're filled with love - you have a friend.
There's someone you can count on, and who cares for you,
When you feel happy, or when you're feeling blue.
Those times you were all alone, you wished you had someone near,
All you had to do was turn to Him, and loose all your fear.
You just had faith, and trusted in Him.
All those hard time, with you is where He's been.
He helped you along the way, gave you comfort and love,
Got you back on your feet, and is watching from above.
