Heaven's Grocery Store
by Ron DeMarco
I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read, "Heaven's Grocery Store".
As I got a little closer the door came open wide,
and when I came to myself I was standing inside.
I saw a host of Angels, they were standing everywhere.
One handed me a blanket and said, "My Child shop with care".
Everything a Christian needs is in that grocery store,
and all you can't carry, come back the next day for more.
First, I got some Patience, Love was in the same row.
Further down was Understanding, needed everywhere you go.
I got a box or two of Wisdom, a bag or two of Faith,
I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost, it was all over the place.
I stopped to get some Strength and Courage to help me run this race,
but then my blanket was getting full, and I remembered I needed Grace.
I didn't forget Salvation, which like the others was free,
so I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
for I thought I had everything to do my master's will.
As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and had to put it in,
for I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf.
Song and Praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the Angel, "How much do I owe"?
The Angel smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again, I politely asked "How much do I really owe?"
The Angel smiled again and said, "My Child, Jesus Paid Your Bill
A Long Time Ago."

God Knows Best
by Helen Steiner Rice
Our Father knows what's best for us,
So why should we complain--
We always want the sunshine,
But He knows there must be rain--
We love the sound of laughter
And the merriment of cheer,
But our hearts would lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear...
Our Father tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow,
He tests us, not to punish us,
But to help us meet tomorrow...
For growing trees are strengthened
When they withstand the storm,
And the sharp cut of the chisel
Gives the marble grace and form...
God never hurts us needlessly,
And He never wastes our pain
For every loss He sends to us
Is followed by rich gain...
And when we count the blessings
That God has so freely sent,
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to lament...
For our Father loves His children,
And to Him all things are plain,
So He never sends us pleasure
When the soul's deep need is pain...
So whenever we are troubled,
And when everything goes wrong,
It is just God working in us
To make our spirit strong.
Serenity Prayer
by Reinhold Neibuhr
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
and the Wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the
pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this
sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make
all things right if I
surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in
the next.
Amen
The One in the Center
by Gail Turner
Three figures held captive above the horizon.
Strange, the one in the center is
Mocked by one and protected by the other
Precious life runs red
From His outstretched hands,
Flows from the crown of thorns
And joins the stream at His feet.
A crimson pool begins to swell
And overflow down the hill.
Lightning pierces the black sky.
Thunder shakes the air.
The death hungry crowd grows still,
even the birds stop singing.
"IT IS FINISHED" fills the earth.
The ground is moving, quivering.
Can't stand.
The sky is getting brighter.
The thunder and lightning have ceased.
Soldiers break the legs of one.
The center figure is already dead.
One runs a sword through His side.
Water and more blood pour out.
They break the legs of the third one.
All three are taken down for burial.
The center one is placed in a cave.
Why is it sealed with a stone?
And a guard set to watch it?
A fire is lit for warmth and light.
The sun shines bright on a new day.
Only the guard is a reminder of yesterday.
Talk turns to the events of the day before.
Who was this man?
What had He done?
Was there a connection between
His death and the weather yesterday?
Surely not, just another coincidence.
But then why the guard?
Another fire is started as night falls again.
Another long night watching someone's grave.
Blinding light! Cant see!
Who is moving the stone!? How !?
Powerful presence,
Can't stand.
Now I can see what is inside.
Nothing! Nobody! How...
Can He really be...
Alive?
Thunder and Lightning
by Gail Turner
When I woke up this morning
It was exciting to be alive.
I asked the Lord what was ahead
And He told me to just follow Him.
I went forth into the unknown wondering
What mysteries will we encounter?
God is asking me to do something.
"But God, I cannot do that thing."
He says "Yes you can. I will help."
We start, and we get done. Wow!
God thunders His praise for all to hear, and
His lightning shows me the direction of His path.
He is amazing and most wonderful
To go with me and help me to do His will.
He guides my footsteps down His path
And gives me the words to tell of Him.
Life with my wonderful Lord is exciting.
He keeps my life full of thunder and lightning.
