Help me, dear Lord, to be honest and true
In all that I say and all that I do;
Give me the courage to do what is right
To bring to the world a glimpse of Your light.

Yesterday is history.

Today is a gift.
That's why we call it "the present"

These things I warmly wish for you -
Someone to love, some work to do,
A bit o' sun, a bit o' cheer,
And a guardian angel always near.
Old Irish Greeting
A wise old owl sat on an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard;
Why aren't we like that wise old bird?
Edward H. Richards
God gives us children for a time
To train them in His way,
To love them and to teach them how
To follow and obey.
Spergeon
Children may not inherit their parents' talents,
but they will absorb their values.

So lift up your heart to the heavens,
There's a loving and kind Father there
Who offers release and comfort and peace
In the silent communion of prayer.

I look to Thee in every need
And never look in vain;
I feel Thy strong and tender love,
And all is well again.
H.W. Longfellow
A Little Love
A little love, a little trust
a soft impulse, a sudden dream
and life as dry as desert dust
is fresher than a mountain stream
Author Unknown
God does not always answer yes
To every prayer I pray;
Sometimes He answers, "No, My child,
I have a better way."

If you've rebelled and turned away
From what you know is true,
Turn back to God--He will forgive;
His pardon waits for you.
Author Unknown
We're all dependent on the strength
We draw from one another,
For we're connected by the love
That comes from God our Father.

To help another person grow,
You have to pay a price;
It takes the giving of yourself
And that means sacrifice.
Author Unknown
Take the world but give me Jesus
In His cross my trust shall be;
Till, with clearer, brighter vision,
Face to face my Lord I see.
Author Unknown
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
His oath, his covenant, his blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

'Tis a Gift to be Simple,
'Tis a gift to be free,
'Tis a gift to come down where you ought to be.
And when we find ourselves in that place just right,
T'will be in the valley of love and delight."
Author Unknown
Why must I bear this pain? I cannot tell;
I only know my Lord does all things well.
And so I trust in God, my all in all,
For He will bring me through, whate'er befall.
Author Unknown
Love is an attitude, love is a prayer,
For someone in sorrow, a heart in despair;
Love is goodwill for the gain of another,
Love suffers long with the fault of a brother.
Author Unknown
When every worry, every care
To God in faith is brought,
We have no place on which to base
One single anxious thought.

Because life's circumstances change,
Our happiness may not remain;
But if we're walking with the Lord,
Our inner joy He will sustain.

"For better or for worse," we pledge,
Through sickness and through strife;
And by the help and grace of God
We'll keep these vows for life.
Author Unknown
Don't be discouraged, child of God,
By what you cannot do;
Just give the Lord your very best
It's all He asks of you.
Author Unknown
In the silence of my chamber
I may with my savior share
All my worries and my troubles
As I talk with him in prayer.
Author Unknown
If God sees the sparrow's fall,
Paints the lilies, short and tall,
Gives the skies their azure hue,
Will he not then care for you?
Author Unknown
I lift my cap to beauty,
I lift my cap to love;
I bow before my duty,
And know that God is above!
My heart through shining arches
Of leaf and blossom goes;
My soul, triumphant, marches
Through life to life's repose.
And I, through all this glory,
Nor know, nor fear my fate -
The great things are so simple,
The simple are so great!
Fred G. Bowles
A careful man I ought to be;
A little fellow follows me.
I do not dare to go astray
For fear he'll go the selfsame way.
Not once can I escape his eyes;
Whate'er he sees me do he tries.
Like me he says he's going to be...
That little chap who follows me.
I must remember as I go
Through summer sun and winter snow,
I'm molding for the years to be...
That little chap who follows me.

"O holy trust! O endless sense of rest!
Like the beloved John
To lay his head upon our Saviour's breast,
And thus to journey on."
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Born on Monday,
Fair in face;
Born on Tuesday,
Full of God's grace;
Born on Wednesday,
Sour and sad;
Born on Thursday,
Merry and glad;
Born on Friday,
Worthily given;
Born on Saturday,
Work hard for your living;
Born on Sunday,
You will never know want.

De Colores
by Gail Turner
Jesus comes to us all in colors.
Oh, so many colors full of love,
Colors filling us, surrounding us.
Colors overflowing from one to another,
Peaceful, joyful, loving colors.
All colors in all colors.
Jesus comes to us all in colors.

Today Yesterday and Tomorrow
There are two days about which nobody should ever worry.
These are yesterday and tomorrow.
So with only today to cope with, the burden seems lighter,
for nobody ever stumbled under the burden of today.
It is only when they add yesterdays and tomorrows
to the load they are carrying, that it becomes unbearable.

When I Must Leave You
by Helen Steiner Rice
When I must leave you for a little while,
Please do nor grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow
to you through the years,
But start out bravely
with gallant smile
And for my sake and in my name
Live on and do all the things the same,
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour in useful ways,
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer,
And I in turn will comfort you
and hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!
I wish you shelter from the rain
I wish you freedom from all pain.
I wish you riches untold
And all the joy your heart can hold
I wish you sunshine from above.
But most of all I wish you love.

The World Needs Friendly Folks Like You
by Helen Steiner Rice
In this troubled world it's refreshing to find
Someone who still has the time to be kind,
Someone who still has the faith to believe
That the more you give the more you receive,
Someone who's ready by thought, word or deed
To reach out a hand in this hour of need.
